Sportiff FC Ol’Kalou Completes Historic Debut Season in FKF Lower Rift League with Pride and Promise
Ol’Kalou, Nyandarua County – Sportiff FC Ol’Kalou has concluded its maiden campaign in the FKF Lower Rift Regional League, the fifth tier of Kenyan football, with heads held high and hearts full of gratitude. This season marked a bold new chapter for the club, representing Ol’Kalou and the wider Nyandarua football community on the regional stage for the very first time.

Despite facing seasoned opponents and travelling great distances, the youthful squad demonstrated unwavering determination and resilience. One of the most impressive showings came against Marigat Allstars, where Sportiff stunned their hosts with a solid 2-0 victory away, before edging them 3-2 at home in a thrilling encounter that had fans on their feet. The team also recorded a memorable 2-0 home win over Greensted Community, followed by an emphatic 4-2 away victory, showing tactical maturity and growing confidence. At home, they overcame Marginpar FC 2-1, showcasing true fighting spirit in front of their supporters. The long and taxing journey to Baawa, over 300 kilometers away, ended in a 2-0 loss, but the team walked away with valuable experience and admiration from their hosts.
The season was more than just results. It was about the story of a team rising from humble beginnings and daring to challenge the odds in unknown territory. The 22-match campaign, their first in a league of this magnitude, saw Sportiff grow not only in tactical awareness but in unity and purpose. Each game became a lesson in composure, discipline, and adaptation—qualities that will undoubtedly define the team's future identity.
What made this journey even more inspiring was the incredible commitment of the players, many of whom juggled academic, work, or personal responsibilities, yet still found time to train, travel, and compete with unmatched discipline. Their willingness to sacrifice, to wear the club’s badge with pride, and to improve week after week, laid the foundation for a culture of excellence that supporters and future recruits can believe in.
Behind the scenes and on the sidelines, the team was propelled by an unmatched show of love from its fan base. Loyal supporters not only turned up in large numbers for home matches but also followed the team across counties—funding travel, cheering passionately, and bringing morale that often gave the team an edge in difficult encounters. From the highlands of Nyandarua to the plains of Baringo, the red and white of Sportiff was a constant presence.
The team was also overwhelmed by the warm hospitality shown during away matches. Clubs like Chemogoch, Nakuru United, Stawisha Jamii FC, and Baawa FC welcomed Sportiff with professionalism and kindness, exemplifying the spirit of the game and building friendships that transcend competition. These interactions added a layer of community and respect to every matchday, creating lasting memories both on and off the pitch.
Sportiff FC extends its sincere appreciation to both the FKF Lower Rift Region office, under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Rutto, and the FKF Nyandarua County office, led by Mr. Kai, for their tireless support and guidance. For a club taking its first steps into regional football, navigating 22 fixtures across unfamiliar grounds would have been a daunting task without the structure and leadership offered by these football authorities. Their presence ensured not just logistical success, but also institutional confidence and legitimacy.
As the team looks forward to its second season, set to begin in October, there is every reason for optimism. With experience under their belt, an inspired fan base, and growing community pride, Sportiff FC Ol’Kalou promises to return stronger, more prepared, and more ambitious. What started as a bold dream has become a movement—and the journey is only beginning.
